LREDA: PSD Chapter

This organization is independent or sponsored by one or more congregations in Prairie Star District. It is affiliated with but not administered by Prairie Star District.

A chapter of the Liberal Religious Educators Association (LREDA) was established in Prairie Star District in 2006. Professional religious educators are very excited to have this organization available to them at the district level.

The PSD chapter of LREDA will reflect national LREDA goals, focusing primarily on individual religious educators and youth directors and their professional development. Our goals are:

  • To support and affirm each other.
  • To exchange information and resources.
  • To meet in geographical clusters at least 2 times a year.
  • To meet as a chapter at the spring professionals retreat and at a summer retreat.
  • To ensure consistent availability of a Good Offices representative within PDS.
  • To mentor new religious educators.
  • To work in conjunction with PSD Lifespan Program Council, which will include a LREDA officer as one of its council members, to provide excellent support to religious educators throughout the Prairie Star District.

We encourage religious educators, youth directors, young adult and campus ministry professionals, ministers, seminary students, dedicated volunteers, and even congregations to join a LREDA chapter.

LREDA members have an enhanced sense of pride in their work, feel supported and affirmed, build stronger commitment to Unitarian Universalism, profit from shared ideas and resources, and contribute to lifelong faith development in our congregations.
