Camp UniStar

Camp UniStar, on Star Island in Cass Lake in northern Minnesota, is owned by Prairie Star District, which runs it through the Camp UniStar Management Committee. The property was donated to the District by the Anderson family, which formerly lived there. The main building is named Anderson Lodge in their honor.
The camp operates from June to September. It offers:
- Work Weeks for volunteers to prepare and maintain the camp.
- Two Youth Week programs for grades 7 through 12, typically in late June.
- Several week-long family programs throughout July and August; each week focuses on a special-interest topic to augment the wide variety of natural activities available at the camp.
- Group retreats in September.
Program
The program for each year is typically announced in February. Please see the UniStar Web site for details.
Future
The Prairie Star District (PSD) of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) is proposing a merger with the Central Midwest and Heartland Districts of the UUA to form the new MidAmerica Region, subject to approval at the district annual meetings in April 2013.
At the PSD Annual Meeting delegates will also vote to transfer Camp UniStar to a new nonprofit organization focused solely on owning and managing the camp. This new organization will be the "Camp UniStar Foundation" (CUF).
A PSD newsletter article about the process is at http://www.psduua.org/Newsletter/72February2013/CampUniStarFuture.
Iinformation and updates on the process of approving and creating CUF are at http://www.campunistarfoundation.org .
