Chalice Lighters Applications

To receive money from the Chalice Lighter program, your congregation must apply for a grant.

To apply for any one of the four types of grants, complete the appropriate application form. Forms can be downloaded or request an application form mailed from the District Office.

There are four types of grant available:

• Full Call (about $6,000 to $8,000) for new congregation formation, securing professional religious leadership, securing a building, or getting over the next barrier to growth

• Growth Fund Grants (up to $2,000) for smaller growth related projects

• Campus Ministry Grants (up to $2,000) for campus ministry/young adult outreach projects

• Social Justice Grants (up to $1,000) to strengthen, empower, or integrate the social justice role into the full life of a the congregation

Applications must be mailed to the PSD office. Applications are evaluated twice a year. Completed applications are due October 1 and February 1.

Donating to Chalice Lighters

Chalice Lighters is a program designed to help UUs throughout Prairie Star District be part of “lighting the chalice” for individual congregations: helping congregations to get started, or to get over that next barrier to growth. The program works through modest periodic donations from a large number of donors like you.
