The 1986 edition of Bring, O Past, Your Honor included histories for many but not all congregations in Prairie Star District. If you would like to write a history for your congregation, or to update the history that was already included, follow the following guidelines.
To Update
If your congregation’s history is already included in the 1986 edition:
- If there is a change in your congregation’s name or address, please correct and indicate that it is a change. Tell why it was changed and when.
- Update your history, including building information, ministerial leadership, membership numbers, and church school enrollment.
- Tell us your significant accomplishments since 1986, including your congregation’s involvement in the community and social justice work.
- For the person writing and submitting the article, please include your name, address, email address, and position in congregation (if applicable).
To Include Your Congregation’s History
If your congregation is currently not included, use these tips as guidelines. (See the histories included in Bring, O Past, Your Honor for examples.)
- Tell us the current official name and address of your congregation. If this has changed over time, tell us when your congregation was founded, where, and by whom. If another congregation was a part of your founding, please tell us that also.
- Tell us something about the history of your building, ministerial leadership, membership numbers, and church school enrollment.
- Give us significant accomplishments, including your congregation’s involvement in the community and social justice work.
- For the person writing and submitting the article, please include your name, address, email address, and position in the congregation (if applicable).
Submitting Your History
The final version of your history should be in Microsoft Word Format or Rich Text Format (RTF), and should be double-spaced. Do not include images in the document itself; images should be sent separately as GIF, PNG, JPG, or LZW-compressed TIFF files. Images should not exceed about 100 KB. Please limit the number of images severely!
