Healthy Congregations WorkshopThe Healthy Congregations Workshop was designed by Rev. Dr. Peter Steinke, a nationwide church consultant who has worked with hundreds of churches of all kinds. Peter studied with Rabbi Edwin Friedman, who adapted family systems theory to congregational life. Peter Steinke is the author of Healthy Congregations: A Systems Approach and Congregational Leadership in Anxious Times: Being Calm and Courageous No Matter What, (Alban Institute, www.alban.org) A key to any emotional system is its leadership. A basic premise of the workshop is the belief that healthy leaders and healthy congregations are nearly inseparable. The healthy functioning of leaders contributes immensely to the healthy functioning of a congregation. The Healthy Congregation workshop is designed for teams of leaders from congregations. Participation by fewer than four people from a congregation minimizes the impact back home. Teams could include people currently in leadership positions or people who are currently being nurturing for leadership in the future. Again, check the Calendar or Workshops for currently scheduled workshops. |
