Purpose: To provide a District initiative and ongoing program coordination for UU history in recognition of the importance of preserving, understanding, and celebrating the past that has forged our identity. To establish appropriate timeline for this process.
Responsibilities include:
- Assuming District-wide leadership for the documentation and sharing of Unitarian and Universalist activities, stories, and records.
- Maintaining the archives of the District and serve as a resource for history related activities.
- Serving congregations by providing an institutional base for regional or District-wide grant funded historical projects; helping to organize our historical source material and disseminating it for inspiration and education; providing training for maintaining records and preserving stories through interviews and oral histories; and using the PSD Heritage web site to provide historical information and develop a network of people interested in UU history.
Reports To: Heritage and Archives Committee Chair.
Term: Three years, renewable. Begins July 1.
Geographic Location: District-wide.
Meeting: Conducts business by conference call and by email.
Other Pertinent Information: Willingness to do work outside of committee meetings.
