Dr. Carol Hepokoski, newly settled minister at First UU Church (Rochester, MN), Rev. Roger Mohr, new minister at UU Fellowship (Burlington, IA), Rev. Dr. Marlene Walker, interim minister at Peoples Church UU (Cedar Rapids, IA), Rev. Nancy Roemheld, interim minister at First Unitarian Church (Omaha, NE), and Rev. Rod Thompson, interim minister at UU Church of Minnetonka (Wayzata, MN). Rev. Ted Tollefson will be working with the UU Fellowship at River Falls, WI, and Rev. Eleanor Rice will be the interim minister at Michael Servetus Unitarian Society (Fridley, MN). We also welcome Mitra Rahnema, intern minister at All Souls UU Church (Kansas City, MO), and Justin Schroeder and Teresa Schwartz, both Hallman Intern ministers at Unity Church-Unitarian (St. Paul, MN). Musicians MeetSonja Johnston![]() UU Musicians Conference co-chairs Sonja Johnston, Minister of Music at MN Valley UU Fellowship in Bloomington, MN (left) and Ruth Palmer, Director of Music Ministries at Unity Church-Unitarian, St. Paul, MN. The 24th annual UU Musicians’ Network (UUMN) conference was held at Unity Church — Unitarian in St. Paul, the first week in August. Over 200 UUMN members from across the US and Canada attended the conference which was co-chaired by Ruth Palmer, Director of Music Ministries at Unity, and Sonja Johnston, Minister of Music at MN Valley UU Fellowship in Bloomington. Dale Warland was the choral clinician for the conference and he also was commissioned by UUMN to compose a choral piece which had its world premiere with over 200 voices singing Warland’s “So Thin a Veil.” Conference attendees attended plenary sessions, choral repertoire reading sessions, a variety of workshops, jazz and folk recitals, classical recitals, and a banquet and variety show. Next year’s conference will be in Clearwater, FL. |
