LGBTQAI Youth Resources
District staff have been getting more and more requests for information for resources that can help congregations support youth who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, asexual, and/or intersex.

From UUA:
- a gathering of general LGBT resources
- a gathering of youth ministry resources (Be sure to check out the additional bullet points in the menu on the left of the page, like this one: http://www.uua.org/religiouseducation/youth/identity-based/index.shtml.)
- A list of other organizations that UUA has compiled, including the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.
Outside of Unitarian Universalism:
- Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has loads of resources depending on who you are and what you are doing. Type “Youth” in their search engine to learn more.
- A 2010 Issue of The Prevention Researcher addresses this need and can be ordered for $10: Creating Supportive Environments for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Youth.
Be sure to check out the “related articles” section in the rightside menu as well. - Teaching Tolerance, created by the Southern Poverty Law Center where you can order a free copy of Bullied: A Student, a School and a Case That Made History and other useful resources.
- Amplify Your Voice takes a holistic approach to sexuality for young people. LOTS of info on their website.
- Lambda Youth Outreach has lots of links if you scroll down.
- The Gay Youth Corner is sort of a facebook meets blogging and podcasting site, areas of which are accessible without signing up to be a user. Good videos from It Gets Better Campaign.
- American Civil Liberties Union has some great resources for organizing in schools and changing discriminatory policies.
- The National Youth Advocacy Movement advocates for and with youth who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, or Questioning in an effort to end discrimination and ensure well-being.
