The district YAC is elected each year during the district youth conference in Boone, Iowa, except when Boone doesn’t happen, as was the case in the Spring of 2008. The members who had not left their youth status (aged out, that is) or already resigned are continuing on and decided to operate as a “YAC Transition Group”. This group decided to explore new ways of bringing educational and leadership programming to PSD and felt that they could organize two events in the coming year - a Boone-like event near the end of the year that would allow the seniors to say goodbye to their friends from across PSD, and a Summit, which would give congregations the opportunity to send up to two youth delegates and up to two adults to share their needs and concerns, as well as determine ways these needs can be met that are accessible and sustainable.

The Youth Adult Committee (YAC) is all about Youth Empowerment. We provide opportunities in our district for youth to feel and use power to make a positive difference in their world. Youth serving on the YAC learn first-hand about the responsibilities and skills needed to lead others. Youth run the meetings and plan district activities. Adults are there to serve in a supportive and advisory capacity.

Our district YAC has 9 elected positions: 6 voting youth and 3 voting adults.
The Boone Planning Committee (BPC) has 4 elected positions and a number of appointed positions. In addition, there are two appointed CONsultants working with the YAC. The YAC, BPC and CONsultants meet regularly at least 4 times a year.
