Award Pictures(See Page 4) News From PSD CongregationsCongratulations to the UU Fellowship of Salina (KS) which celebrated its tenth anniversary on March 7, and to the First Unitarian Church of Omaha (NE) which will be 135 years old this summer. Their first service was held on August 29, 1869. The UU Women’s Federation of the Unitarian Church (Lincoln, NE) had their first annual spring retreat in April. Thirty women enjoyed the weekend. At a recent meeting, the congregation of First Universalist Church (Minneapolis, MN) approved two proposed resolutions. One opposes any constitutional amendment to ban the legal recognition of same-sex marriages, civil unions, and/or domestic partner registries. The other affirms every person’s right to reproductive choice and endorsed the Association of Universalist Women’s co-sponsorship of the April 25 Washington March for Women’s Lives. The Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence (KS) is busily planning its event for the Lawrence Sesquicentennial celebration. While the town is celebrating its history between May and October, the congregation is hosting a special event on October 23, acknowledging the founding of Lawrence by Unitarians from the East 150 years ago. Tom Maertens, terrorist specialist in the Clinton and Bush Administrations will speak at the UU Fellowship of Mankato, MN on June 17 at 7:00pm. This is the first in the UU Humanity Series presented by the Mankato Fellowship. |
